About  Meghann

Welcome!  I have been working therapeutically with adolescents, adults and families for over fourteen years.  I find that the true path to healing lies in understanding the core root of the problem and looking beyond symptom management.   My friendly and interactive style creates a warm environment that clients gravitate towards.

Moreover, I have national and international experience in complex and multi-generational trauma.  These opportunities led me to seeking a specialty certification in the treatment of trauma from Simmons College, as well as obtaining my Level 1&2 EMDR (Eye Movement Disensitization and Reprocessing) training.

I earned a Masters In Social Work and a Bachelors in Sociology from the University of Connecticut (Go Huskies!).

What Is Trauma Informed Care?

I have a passion to create my practice around the ideals of trauma informed care.  Because I have lived and traveled around the world, I have had the privilege to witness first hand the effects of complex and intergenerational trauma.

Trauma-Informed care means looking at the whole person.  It looks beyond the label and examines the purpose that our behaviors, thoughts and emotions serve.   Moreover, as a practitioner I have a recognition and understanding of the various internal and external triggers and work with client to help them develop their own responsiveness of these signs.    It also honors that the word trauma is comprehensive and extends beyond the classic definitions of PTSD.
